Important Update: Changes to Amazon FBA Inbound Placement Fee Structure

Effective February 20th, 2025, Amazon has eliminated the 'partial shipment splits' option for FBA shipments containing small standard and large standard items. This middle-tier option previously helped sellers reduce their Inbound Placement Service Fees, which were introduced in 2024.

You now have two options for your inbound shipments:

  1. Standard shipment splits (fee applies)

  2. No shipment splits (no fee)

To avoid Inbound Placement Service Fees entirely, your shipments must meet these specific requirements:

  • Include at least 5 identical cartons/pallets per item

  • Ensure each carton contains the same quantity and item mix

Since the Inbound Placement Service Fee appears to be a permanent addition to Amazon's fee structure, we recommend:

  • Working with your manufacturers to adjust carton packaging to meet the no-fee requirements when possible

  • Planning larger, more uniform shipments to qualify for the fee exemption

  • Factoring these fees into your pricing strategy if you can't avoid them
